Architectural Designer

Architectural Designer is tasked with designing, implementing and refurbishing interior spaces. The CAD Draftsperson (Interior Design) is responsible in determining space requirements, selecting decorative items, planning on color schemes, lighting and materials to be used. The role also ensures optimal use of space to make it functional, safe, and beautiful whilst ensuring that the designs created follow building codes and inspection regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the client’s goals and requirements of the project
  • Sketch preliminary design plans including electrical layouts
  • Specify materials and furnishings, such as lighting, furniture, wall finishes, flooring, and plumbing fixtures
  • Prepare final plans, using computer applications such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and other design programs
  • Undertake design projects from concept to completion by participating in the conceptual design phase, working drawing, material selection and detailing phases of interior design
  • Prepare all necessary design studies, schematics, presentations, and documentation
  • Create a timeline for the interior design project and estimate project costs
  • Place orders for materials and oversee installing the design elements
  • Ensure that building codes are met and adhered to
  • Work closely with designer, decorators, architects and constructors
  • Research and follow industry changes, evolutions and best practices
  • Any other task/duty as directed by client/management

Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s/College Degree in Architecture, Interior Design/Creative Multimedia or equivalent
  • At least 2-3 years’ relevant experience in Interior Design
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Max, Illustrator or other design programs
  • Flair in interior design solutions, concepts and presentations for retail and commercial clients; Background in designing corporate interiors preferred
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematics and produce presentation drawings
  • Skilled in interior design, alterations, renovations and new layouts
  • Knowledge of BCA, ABW, Disability access, and green star an advantage
  • Can work autonomously, employ initiative to find solutions, prioritise and exercise discretion
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility for own priorities and contribute to team objectives
  • Strong attention to detail; Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as good presentation skills
  • Enthusiastic and highly productive, detail oriented and quality-minded
  • Ability to work quickly and meet deadlines
  • Excellent portfolio of previous works
