The client is seeking a talented individual to manage and architect the environment that underpins our e-commerce platform. Though focused on Linux systems administration, this individual will be a member of our technology team with a broad exposure to a range of technologies with a view to architect the platform of tomorrow. The majority of your projects will initially focus on scaling infrastructure, security, performance tuning, and automating daily administrative tasks. Responsibilities
The management, oversight and future architecture of production infrastructure and systems that power the client's customer experience.
Providing general administration, performance tuning and system hardening for Linux and Microsoft server environments.
Working with Engineering teams to improve overall application performance across multiple architectures
Building, deploying and automating server infrastructure and tuning configurations for application performance
Improving security, scalability, availability and performance of infrastructure
Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that affect the production environment
Working closely with technology team members to learn and support new applications provide feedback to and input into future development.
Oversight of the general support processes. Working with the frontline team to define and develop processes and policies for support functions.
Experience working in virtualized environments, such as VMWare
Experience using continuous integration tools (Gitlab, Git workflows, Jenkins)
Nginx, HAProxy, Varnish
Expertise with Puppet development and deployment
Develop software and system solutions, utilising a number of technologies (Python, PHP, Java, C++, Ruby, SQL, Memcached, Redis, SOLR, Elasticsearch (ELK), Graphite, StatsD).
Active Directory, Group Policy and general corporate systems administration a plus
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in systems and/or software engineering and the SRE and DevOps paradigms
Experience deploying and managing infrastructure within hybrid environment with high availability requirements
Expertise in performance testing tools and SRE best practices
Ability to multitask
Analyse failures and identify root causes in conjunction with engineers
Contribute to the agile and test-driven engineering culture with creative problem solving and can-do attitude
