Lawyers can interpret laws and apply them to specific situations such as counseling their clients on their legal rights and obligations and representing their clients during legal proceedings. The role is responsible for providing expert legal support and advice on necessary courses of legal action, drafting and maintaining legal documents, and researching precedents, which are earlier interpretations of laws and the history of judicial decisions based on that law. Lawyers may also act as a trustee or executor for businesses and/or individuals.
Responsibilities
Provide advise concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations
Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for individuals and/or businesses
Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents
Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases
Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case
Examine legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit
Study Constitution, statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for
Confer with colleagues with specialties in appropriate areas of legal issue to establish and verify bases for legal proceedings
Represents clients during negotiations to ensure efficient handling and resolution of legal issues
Act as agent, trustee, guardian, or executor for businesses and/or individuals
Prepares legal briefs, develops strategy, arguments, and testimony in preparation for case presentations
Prepare and draft legal documents, such as wills, trusts, deeds, transfers of assets, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and
Maintains the legal documents of clients and prepares amendments whenever relevant
Reviews and recommends policies and procedures that are compliant with existing laws and regulations
Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law
Qualifications
Must have a Law Degree (Juris Doctor / Juris Prudence)
Licensed to practice Law (Board Passer)
With at least three (3) years of working experience as a Lawyer
Experience in Corporate Law, specifically in contract drafting, review and execution, corporate filings with corporate and infrastructure regulatory agencies, project finance, power, utilities, project management and advice, corporate and litigation due diligence
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with high level of proficiency in verbal and written
Good analytical and drafting skills; organized and committed to deadlines
Strong negotiation skills and experience, with keen ability to evaluate all legal implications with a focus on solutions and results
Self-motivated, with an ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic corporate environment
