Payroll Officer

The Payroll Officer is responsible for processing the fortnightly and weekly payrolls and subject matterexpert to Practice Managers, clinic operations, and HR administration on Time and Attendance andstandard payroll requirements (e.g. Tax, Super, Terminations). In addition, the Payroll Officer will provide aresponsive, approachable, and effective service to the business.

Responsibilities

Payroll Processing

  • Process the fortnightly and weekly payroll for Australia and New Zealand.
  • Work closely with the HR Coordinators to ensure accurate integration between the HRIS, time and
    attendance system, and payroll system.
  • Work closely with Finance and Treasury to ensure all banking and reporting is completed at expected
    times.
  • Support the Payroll Manager and Senior Payroll Officer/s with the month-end and year-end payroll
    processes, and with peripheral processes including PAYG, PAYE, superannuation, KiwiSaver, payroll
    tax, etc.
  • Respond to queries from line managers and employees in a professional and prompt manner.
  • Process and ensure accuracy of all Masterfile data, payroll adjustments and time and attendance
    adjustments.
  • Follow all processes, procedures and legislation set out within the relevant employing entity and legal
    jurisdictions.

Customer Service

  • Being a key point of contact for all payroll queries and responding in line with VetPartners core values.
  • Providing support and best practice advice to Practice Managers on the use of Time and Attendance
    systems, and where appropriate the People Pawtal.
  • Recognize when additional assistance is needed, and request as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years’ experience in New Zealand payroll.
    NZ Holidays Act, Termination payments and IRD management.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Strong systems and Excel skills.
  • Responsible, organised, self-directed and efficient.
  • Attentive to details and keen in keeping records and documents.
  • Experienced with high volume, multi-company
  • Knows the basic core payroll tasks
  • Do have knowledge in concept of taxation, computation of back pay, and benefits.
  • Must be willing to work on site - Morning Shift
