In this role, you will be on the frontline of our sales operations, focusing on generating leads and qualifying prospects. you'll play a crucial role in driving our sales process by generating leads and assessing their readiness to buy. Your tasks include initiating contact with potential clients, nurturing these connections, and categorising leads for direct follow-up by our Business Development Representatives or for future engagement. You will take a proactive approach to identify high-value opportunities and manage the early activities in the sales funnel. This position is essential to expanding our sales efforts and offers you hands-on experience with direct impact on our growth.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Handle, qualify, and close inbound leads through various channels, including phone and web interactions.
  • Execute cold calling, email outreach, and lead qualification, setting up appointments for BDRs within the realm of inside sales.
  • Initiate the first contact with potential customers through strategic email outreach and cold calling, ensuring timely follow-ups at designated touchpoints in the customer journey.
  • Categorise leads based on their readiness to buy, directing those deemed "ready to buy" straight to BDRs or Account Managers for closing.
  • Engage in effective questioning to uncover customer needs, qualify interest, and assess viability, preparing qualified leads for a seamless handoff to sales.
  • Collaborate closely with designated BDRs to arrange meetings and ensure a smooth handover process, aligning on customer engagement strategies.
  • Update activity and contact information within Salesforce, supporting accurate reporting efforts for inside sales activities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for outreach strategies, actively contributing to the development of best practices for the growing inside sales team.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to offer feedback and insights, contributing to the improvement of targeting and messaging for inside sales efforts.
  • Work closely with BDRs on the handover and first call, ensuring a seamless transition and alignment on customer engagement strategies in the inside sales context.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is often preferred, particularly in fields such as business, marketing, communications, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of sales principles and practices, as well as experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software, can be vital.
  • SDRs should be proficient in both verbal and written communication as they will be engaging with potential clients regularly.
  • The role involves reaching out to many prospects, often encountering rejection, so being persistent and resilient is key.
  • SDRs should be able to learn about new products or services fast to effectively communicate the value proposition to prospects.
  • A strong drive to meet and exceed sales targets is important for success in this role.
  • While much of the role is independent, SDRs must also be able to work as part of a larger sales team.
  • Ability to identify and qualify new sales opportunities through various means, including cold calling, email outreach, and social selling.
  • Should be comfortable with using new technology, often required for sales automation and streamlining the sales process.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and manage one's time effectively is essential for balancing the various responsibilities of the role.
