Under the supervision of the Director of Communications, the Website Developer is a key member of the Marketing and Communications team and works to maintain and enhance the client's website. The Website Developer will have a strong focus on user experience, SEO, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
Website Management
Collaborate with the Director of Communications, Technology Services, and third-party vendors to ensure that the website balances security, performance, flexibility, and brand compliance.
Manage website content ensuring that all content (copy and media), is accurate, up-to-date, and in line with the institution’s brand and image.
Perform day-to-day maintenance and updates.
Respond to and repair website errors.
Scan for and fix broken links.
Implement directed traffic landing pages to complement advertising campaigns and other initiatives.
Monitor website performance and traffic, and make necessary adjustments to optimize the website’s performance.
Serve as a point-of-contact between internal clients, contract designers, and web hosting providers.
Keep abreast of the latest techniques and technologies related to website development and digital marketing.
Analytics & Reporting
Help monitor existing analytics (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google My Business, Heatmapping, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, Hubspot, etc.) and provide regular reports on useful data (e.g., audience demographics, customer journey results, historical usage trends, campaign results) to the Director of Communications.
Track analytics and user feedback to identify areas of improvement.
Recommend and monitor strategies for increasing key performance metrics.
Additional Team Support
Provide additional as-needed support at the direction of the Director of Communications.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, computer science, web development, software development, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in marketing, web development, or related field.
Highly proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Familiarity with WordPress (WordPress.org) including: child themes, user management, plugin management, custom post types and taxonomies, media management, etc.
Strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) strategies.
Knowledge of design and multimedia creative tools such as the Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, YouTube or Facebook/Instagram video is a plus.
Proficiency in using marketing software and platforms, including: Hubspot, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Meta Ads.
Proven ability to develop and work with cross-functional teams and collaborate across departments.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
